Simon Cooper
Consultant
As a consultant for Certeco I am working as part of a Project Management Office (PMO) within a client project. The team I work for is responsible for implementing process and systems changes brought about by legislative changes in the US. We act as the main point of contact to co-ordinate work by multiple business units around the world.
My key responsibilities are helping develop the programme structure and working closely with stakeholders within the business area to design and implement system and process changes. To do this, I have had to gain a detailed knowledge of the new regulations.
For me, the most challenging aspect of my current role is to understand, interpret and solve the challenges brought about with the release of the new legislation. This has a very wide reach and requires constant communication and co-ordination between people working within different business functions.
I am currently working on a series of communication briefings and guidance letters to be distributed throughout the business to prepare it for the expected release of full regulations. The best part of my assignment is getting the opportunity to work in the area of business I find interesting and being able to develop my skills in a relevant working environment.
This is my first role since leaving university and I am excited by the opportunities I have in front of me. I have found I really enjoy being part of a large project doing critical work for one of our clients and am looking forward to learning new skills and taking on more responsibility in the future.
