Where are the Standards for Payment Security?

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) has been looming for some time now with the hope that businesses will adopt it to reduce the costs of fraud. By 30 September merchants that process more than 6 million transactions per year will be forced to be compliant or face heavy fines.
